It is with profound sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert "Bob" Joseph Levangie, of Lugoff, South Carolina, on June 25, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on May 8, 1934, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Robert was a force of nature, an inexhaustible spirit who lived his life with an insatiable curiosity and a radiant love for his family.
Robert had an eye for the unseen, a collector of everything, his world was filled with treasures that others overlooked. Robert's life was marked by a spirit of service and commitment to his community. He was a dedicated volunteer with the American Red Cross and Kershaw County Disaster Service. He served as a Commissioner for the Lugoff Fire Department and retired honorably from the Virginia Beach Police Department. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. His commitment to service extended into his social life where he was a life member of the Lions Club, a Past Commander and life member of VFW Post #8346 and AMVETS, a member of Post #33, an Officer of American Legion, and a member of Moose Lodge #1198. His contributions and participation were recognized with numerous awards through the many clubs, offices, and lodges that he was a member of.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Lisa Levangie-Colon and Pamela Worthy (Ray); grandchildren, Darren, Sarah, Jonathan, Melissa, Jermaine, Brayden, Raymond, Lisa and Michael; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Irene, Thomas, Jayleen and Emerson; daughter-in-law, Martha Sutton; and his dog, Lucy.
Mr. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Martha Ann Baldwin Levangie; son, Donald Sutton; son-in-law, Felix Colon; siblings, Irene White, Alice Walsh, Dorothy Cantin, William Levangie, Barbara Thomas and Mary Davidson; and great grandson, Levi Livingston.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Levangie will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at St. John United Methodist Church in Lugoff, SC, at 9:00 am. With a burial to follow the service in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 11:00 am. The family will be receiving friends the evening prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lugoff Fire Department or St. John United Methodist Church in Lugoff, SC.
